i know i said i needed a little blogging break, but just as soon as i wrote just that, i felt compelled to blog about this little film. i'm still not sure if i'll be back to a regular schedule right now, but i'm happy enough to share with you the things that make me happy as i have time.i remember reading about penelope when it first came out, but i didn't get a chance to see it until last week, when i just about fell in love with it. the film's visual aspects - the heroine's "anthropologie-esque" wardrobe and the beautiful sets that combine old-school and contemporary characteristics to create a distinct world for this modern-day fairy tale - kept me entranced. however, it was the touching performances by some of my favorite character actors and the film's message that really melted my heart. i would describe it as a mixture of beauty and the beast, wizard of oz, and a little amelie. this film is for old souls who are young at heart.

This sounds really intriguing! And I adore that last photo of her in the pink dress. But its really the background that captures my attention.
