godiva hot chocolate - this san francisco company makes some truly decadent chocolate, so i'm betting this drink will be the perfect indulgence on cold autumn nights.
"A" handkerchief - the first letter of my swapping partner's first name.
guittard chocolate bar (wrapped in the handkerchief) - the factory is within two miles of my apartment. many times i'll smell the knee-buckling chocolate aroma coming home from work, which is the such a sweet "welcome home" for me. i'm hoping my swapping partner will find this chocolate just as welcoming.
socks - warm and cozy, they say "comfort" to me.
city walks: paris - since she cited amelie as her favorite movie, i think this deck of short tours will be a perfect guide when she wants to let her imagination take her all over paris (or wherever she likes, just like amelie).
purple - my swapping partner's favorite color. you can't tell from this photo, but the godiva label and guittard label are a rich purple.
happy autumn, everyone!

this looks awesome!! How cool, but alas now I know it's not me since my names starts with 'P'. :-(
my favorite movie is amelie, but alas my real name begins with an R, and my blog name with an S...But how could other not like Amelie? cheers great package!
Love the socks - what a fun idea to 'swap'. Thank you for stopping by French Essence and leaving such a great tango tale xv.
Oh my god, if I had a chocolate factory nearby I would go crazy with cocoa lust...
hey, i love paris and amelie too! too bad my name doesn't start with an "A".
p.s. its good to meet a fellow SF blogger here. i'll be back again for sure :)
pia - thanks, i love your autumn swap as well!
sonrie - thanks, and i agree. amelie is irresistable.
vicki - i'm glad you like the idea. btw, your "french life" book is one of my favorites!
mary-laure - yay, we're now in the same time zone! yes, i hold that factory responsible for my frequent chocolate cravings.
odessa, i'm happy to meet another bay area blogger, too. i'll be keeping up with your adventures as well.
I saw this when you posted it, and thought to myself, wow that is exactly what I want. And guess what?! My package arrived today and I am so thrilled!! I love all the little gifts. It makes me so happy to see all my gifts, and that hot cocoa will be put to good use with winter quickly approaching :)
oooh what a super lovely and delicious giftie!
So lovely! I think many of us must have "amelie" as a favorite! . . . a sweet package, brings memories of my beloved San Francisco!
amanda - i'm so, so happy you like your gift! i had a great time putting it together. i still find myself spotting things for the swap.
maryam - thanks so much! i'm sending you warm wishes all the way from the bay area.
erin - thanks! yes, i don't know anyone who dislikes "amelie." hope you get a chance to return to the bay area soon.
hi, josephine!!! i'm so thrilled that you loved your package!!! it was tough not being able to leave comments on your blog for fear of spilling the beans but i was so happy to hear that everything reached your place unharmed. you are one fierce mind and i am amazed with how you connect one post to the other...reading your on-line journal is like a great novel that you just can't put down. getting to know you through your words is quite amazing and thought provoking. i missed the blog day action that pia wrote about but did my part with my lil' ones and gathered bags of can goods plus my husband and my lil guy's tiger scout will be visiting our village pantry to learn more about feeding the poor and giving what we can. the post with the pizza box reminded me of the many times during my early working career, how many times i'd buy myself lunch but would pass by someone who needed it the most. i often would leave it with them and hoped for a better day for them. thank you for sharing your soule with us... it truly was such a pleasure finding treasures for you and i hope it will give you some sweet comfort this Autumn...looking forward to your next adventures! bon au revoir mon nouvel ami du mien, Jo ;)
Awww what a neat swap - lovely!
