floral fixation

red thread: amsterdam

i'm a sucker for flowers, and amsterdam seems to me like a city that loves them, too. no wonder i fell in love. i love how flowers seem to be installed throughout this cosmopolitan city; instead of feeling too manicured, they seem like a natural part of the town.

can you believe that i felt a tiny sting when i first came across the amsterdam tulip museum? how could that be possible when looking at these happy flowers? it's because one night a few months ago i heard a noise on my patio and discovered a raccoon digging up my tulip bulbs (that i had carefully selected for early, mid-, and late spring and refrigerated for 6 weeks). the raccoon took one look at me and kept on digging. he/she might as well have given me "the finger." so i couldn't help feel a little sad for my tulips that didn't have a chance to bloom. there's always next year, right?

how gorgeous are these flower arrangements? they make me want to have fresh bouquets in my home everyday.

this beauty in vondel park reminded me of my camelia tree back home.
